PIZZA PIZZA PIZZA

Pizza is fan favorite all across America, and probably the world, too! Pizzas comes in many styles and are famous for being from certain areas in the country, such as Chicago and New York. You can’t forget where it all started, Italy! We’ll be digging in to some of the more widely known pizza styles in America.

One type of pizza that tends to stay the same across each state is fast food chain pizza. For example, Dominos. Dominos is personally my favorite chain pizza. They serve the traditional hand tossed and thin crust pizza. My absolute FAVORITE type of pizza from Dominos is their Hand-made Pan pizza. It is a thicker type crust, but it’s light and fluffy. For my fellow anti pizza crust fans, this pizza is perfect for you! It lacks the crust that most pizzas have. If you haven’t tried it yet, TRY IT TODAY.

Flatbread pizza is common at many restaurants. Usually served on the appetizer menu, and often found in restaurants that do not specialize in pizza. Flatbread is a healthier pizza alternative that is lighter in sauce and toppings compared to other pizza. If you prefer your pizza extra crispy, this is the pizza for you.

Neapolitan crust pizza is the traditional Italian pizza, and probably the closest us Americans can get to an authentic Italian pizza. The crust is thicker, but still light and airy. This pizza has limited toppings, meaning you can’t americanize it. Traditional tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and basil are what make this pizza authentic.

If you have ever visited Chicago, you’ve probably tried their deep dish pizza. If you didn’t, why?! This spring break I am traveling to Chicago and this pizza is on my to-eat list. This pizza is more like a pie from the way the crust forms. It is usually a couple of inches thick and holds in all the yumminess. The unusual thing for this pizza is that it gets layered a little differently than most pizza. First goes the cheese, then the meat and veggies, and last comes the sauce. If you’ve had Chicago deep dish, you understand the hype.

New York style pizza is known for it’s largeness. The slices are HUGE and most people only need one slice to satisfy their hunger. It’s crust is typically hand tossed and on the thinner side. It’s base is tomato sauce and mozzarella and topped with anything you desire! When in New York, pizzerias are everywhere. Our most recent visit to Big Pie in the Sky reminded me of New York style pizza. (Stay tuned for our review!)
